Views of our #ScargillFamily
Parent of a Year 3 child with SEND (Februry 2019)
‘The Scargill school SENDCo, SEND team and teaching staff have provided exemplary support for my child, who is now in Year 3.
When my child began to experience some difficulties regarding social interactions, the school provided excellent provision. This enabled my child to feel fully included and to accept that it’s ok to ask for help.
In class TA support has been fantastic and my child speaks very highly of all the teaching assistants who have provided the understanding and caring support that was needed.
Interventions to develop various key skills have enabled my child to make great progress in areas that were very challenging initially.
My views as a parent and my child’s views have always been taken into consideration and I feel that the school has worked collaboratively with me and my child to ensure the best possible outcomes and experiences in school.’
SIAMS (June 2017) reported
‘This is a welcoming and nurturing Christian community grounded in a strong Christian ethos. Pupils are proud to be Scargill citizens and display Scargill’s values, such as generosity, respect and forgiveness in daily life, linking them to biblical teaching.
The report goes on to say, ‘Positive play and nurture groups support the emotional and social needs of some pupils, with teachers also extending the more able pupils. As a result, all groups of pupils make good progress, given their starting points.’
OFSTED (January 2017) report
‘Pupils who spoke with inspectors were polite and articulate. They listened carefully to each other and showed respect and empathy for those who experience difficulties.’
