Attainment and Achievement - 2017

At certain stages through their learning journey at Scargill, children take part in National tests. In 2017, our children participated in such tests in 4 different year groups across the school:

EYFS – Children in their first year at Primary School complete the Foundation Stage Profile which marks a child’s progress across a wide range of areas – from the social to the academic. Our children in 2017 did very well with 82% of children achieving a ‘good level of development’. This means that these children achieved the expected level in 13 key areas of learning. This compares to the National Average of 71%.

Y1 – In Y1 the children complete a Phonics Screening Check were children have to read 40 words – some of these are real words and some are made up to confirm the child’s phonological skills. In 2017, our children achieved a success rate of 82% compared with a national average of 81% in 2016. This is an area where we have made significant gains over the past years closing the gap between our achievement and now moving ahead of the national average.

Y2 – In Y2 the children complete a series of tests that inform the teacher assessments that make up the KS1 SATs scores. These tests were brand new for 2016 and therefore this is the first year were we can compare with past National performance.
