Fundamental British Values

As a Church School, we maintain an ethos that is based on Christian values. We encourage children to behave and act in a way that matches these values. We also promote and encourage the British Values of:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect for one another
  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
There are opportunities across the curriculum for these values to be discussed and explored. If you would like to learn more about how British Values is taught at Scargill, the skills and knowledge covered in each department can be found in the ' Progression of Knowledge and Skills document on this page.

Children in Y5/6 are partaking in a linking project with Carsington and Hopton CofE Primary School this year. Both classes have already started exploring 'How do we all live together?' and sharing their work with other.  There are some examples of their poems 'I am Wonder?' below. They will soon be meeting 'in person' and learning together at Pride Park.

There are exciting plans for Scargill CofE Primary to link with Bishop Lonsdale in the coming terms, so check back later for more.
