Our Collective Worship Committee members play an integral part of delivering acts of worship in Scargill C of E Primary School and encouraging the school to reflect on Christian Values.
Throughout the year they:
* Lead whole school worships alongside Mrs Hallsworth.
* Lead Picture News Worships in class encouraging the pupils to explore topical news stories and questions.
* Deliver prayers in worship and in class.
* Maintain class prayer areas and areas of reflection around school.
* Encourage their peers to reflect on the values and issues discussed.
* Are involved in services and events at St Wilfrid's church.
* Support the class in evaluating Worship in Scargill C of E Primary and reflecting on how to develop our beliefs and spirituality further.
If you have any questions or suggestions on how we can improve worship at Scargill feel free to speak to your classes Collective Worship Commitee members (They are easy to recognise by their purple badges!) or Mrs Wilderspin.
In 1927, when Diocese of Derby was founded, the first Bishop of Derby arranged for a medal to be struck to celebrate this new beginning. Copies of the medal were presented to distinguished members of the Diocese and to all those being confirmed in that year. In recent years, Bishop Alastair arranged for a replica of this medal to be minted and mounted in the form of a badge. Each year he awarded these badges, based upon recommendations made to him, as a gesture from the Diocese to acknowledge outstanding service to the church. To mark the 90th anniversary of the diocese, Bishop Alastair extended the Bishop’s Badge Awards to incorporate awards for church schools. This practice has continued over the past 5 years, giving Bishop’s Badges to children embodying diocesan values.
The 2023-2024 Collective Worship Commitee were nominated for a Bishop Badge. The whole committee was nominated for their generous faith and how they work together as a team to inspire others through our Bible message ‘Let all that you do, be done in love’.
The Committee members were awarded their Bishops Badges in a special service in June 2024 at the Derby Cathedral.
Congratulations to the 2023-34 Collective Worship Committee, you lead us all in 'Living Our Values Everday'! Wear your badges with pride.
